Up2Us Sports, a national leader in sports-based youth development (SBYD), is hosting two professional development events in New York City.

TRAUMA-SENSITIVE PROGRAM DESIGN - Friday, April 28, 2017, 9:00am - 12:30pm

Covington Burling LLP, NY Times Building, 620 8th Ave, NY, NY 10018

Up2Us Sports presents a unique approach to designing trauma sensitive environments for youth development programs.  Our training is rooted in brain development and organizational design research and focuses on strategies that help programs provide a safe space for young people who have experienced trauma.  The training presents practical strategies for designing trauma-sensitive programming and for better serving youth who have been exposed to trauma. Participants will leave with a better understanding of the impact of trauma on behavior and the ability to identify strategies that will work with their own program’s culture, program activities, staff and external stakeholders.

Change Your Coaching in 7 Words or Less - Saturday, April 29, 2017, 9:00am - 1:00pm

PS 125, 425 W 123rd St, New York, NY 10027

In this innovative and active session, coaches will practice phrases, each 7 words or less, that they can immediately use in their practices and games to help build strong relationships and promote engagement. They will also learn games and strategies to help take their SBYD programming to the next level. This session is designed for youth development professionals at all levels. It focuses on specific strategies to use with young people, so is especially relevant for coaches.

Lunch will be provided at both sessions.

Interested in attending both? Contact Ben Schornack to find out more about multi-session discounts.
