How to Get Involved

Step 1: Apply to be a coach!   That's this step. Use the registration form here

Step 2: We'll follow up in a few weeks with specific practice locations and time slots for you to choose from. There will be a variety of practice times and locations all over Eastern mass.  See the list at right for past practice site locations.

Step 3: Attend coach training at the Celtic’s practice facility in Waltham*.  You’ll learn about the structure of practices, rules and scoring for the drills, and some tips and tricks for ensuring all the kids you coach are having fun.

*We’ll help you get a ride to the facility if you don’t have a car!

Step 4: Attend both Jr. Celtics kick-off clinics.  These clinics are fun events in which the kids learn about the importance of practicing basketball skills, being physically active, and eating healthy.  There will be Celtics players at these events as well as media and other volunteers.  It’s a fun and easy day. You’ll get to meet the kids you’ll be coaching the following four weeks.

Saturday, February 6th, 2016 – Clinic #1  (Madison Park HS, Roxbury)

Saturday, March 12th, 2016 – Clinic #2 (Madison Park HS, Roxbury)

Step 5: Go to community center once a week for 4 weeks to run practices with approximately 20 kids.  Score the kids on the drill of the day and play fun and physically active games with them to help improve their basketball skills.  Send drill scores to Up2Us Sports after each practice so kids can earn the chance to attend a Celtics game!

Step 6: Go to the Celtics game with your kids! You’ll get tickets to this game and will have a great time and good opportunity stay connected with the kids for the future.
